Journey of the Heart

Emotions are one of the fundamental values of the human experience and can be understood in many different ways. This show musically explores these emotions and will leave the audience and judges captivated after exploring the Journey of the Heart.

Movement 1

Your show will begin with light entrances from percussion and varying wind sections with an interesting 7/4 rhythm. The low voices lead the ensemble into a broad opening impact that is sure to impress your audiences and judges alike! Soon after, we begin to explore the emotion of “anger”… The low voices and high voices toss around intense call and response melodies, simulating a tense argument. This leads into a captivating percussion feature that gives them the spotlight. We finish out the movement with a large full ensemble moment that can show off your band on the move or presenting eye catching choreography.

Movement 2

This movement slows down and explores the emotion of “sadness,” and begins with mallets and a beautiful baritone solo. Your winds can show off their lyrical finesse as they build up to a large ensemble moment, that suddenly fades into an alto saxophone duet that is sure to inspire emotions as the movement ends with a reprise of the baritone solo.

Movement 3

Soon after this beautiful ballad we explore the emotions of “joy” to top off the show. As the energy builds up we hear small snippets from the opening 7/4 melody from the beginning of the show. Following swiftly after, your audience will hear slight hints of the iconic “Ode to Joy” melody from Beethoven’s 9th symphony being echoed by different sections. After alternating percussion and wind features, we finally come to an exciting impact that once again could allow for movement or choreography to impress everyone in the stadium. The broad chords signify that we have come to a close as your band leaves it all on the field for the audience to reflect the feeling of joy!
