“The lines between imagination, and reality, are blurred…”
What do we do when we can’t tell what is real? This high energy show explores the answer to that very question, with exciting, unique and contemporary original music, bound to resonate with your judges and audience alike.
1. Imagination and Reality
Barlines are immediately blurred by way of alternating phrases of 4/4 and 3/4 bars, making it hard to determine where reality begins. A bluesy soprano saxophone solo continues to defy expectation and blurs reality even more. Winds and percussion build on this rhythmically intense and grooving motif, finishing the idea with an brief and powerful tuba feature. This idea is taken to a new level with an electronically modulated clarinet solo, which will allow your outstanding musician to play in a completely different style! More high energy effects lead to a powerful impact as we realize how difficult it is to tell the difference between what’s real and what isn’t.
Finally, we find Clarity – both figuratively and literally – with this incredible arrangement of the popular Zedd tune by the same name. This movement will have everyone in the stands smiling and singing along, with solos for low brass and muted trumpet, and an extended solo for the featured soprano sax.
*All solo instruments in any show can be changed to highlight your strongest musicians.
3. Blurred Lines
As the show comes to a close, we find a way to discover clarity within the blurred lines we see every day. The alternating 4/4 and 3/4 phrases return, this time as the melodic material from Clarity is developed and traded around. In a final moment of clarity, we hear a full ensemble recapitulation of Zedd’s hit, which builds into a final triumphant impact.
