The music of Romantic composers like Grieg, Rossini, Tchaikovsky, and others have had an enormous influence on the progression of music since their time. This show explores well-known music from the Romantic era in an engaging and exciting setting that is sure to challenge and motivate your students, and delight your audiences!

1. Morning Mood
One of the most iconic pieces of all time, this setting begins with a number of solos interweaving together, building to a gorgeous full-ensemble setting of one of Grieg’s most well known works that will show off your ensemble’s sonority.

2. Flight of the William Tell
This high energy movement develops motives from both of these well-known works in a fun and exciting movement that just doesn’t stop! Another set of Romantic icons, your trumpets will love working on the fanfare from William Tell Overture, and an outstanding saxophonist will be able to show off their skills by playing Flight of the Bumblebee. We even hear slight foreshadows of 1812 Overture peeking through the orchestration. An ensemble impact and a flourish of an ending for your soloist bring this movement to an energetic conclusion.
*The solo instrument in “Flight of the Bumblebee” can be changed to any wind instrument to best highlight your top performer!

3. Flower Duet
This beautiful waltz by Léo Delibes is introduced in a flute duet which is slowly joined by the rest of the ensemble and leads to a lush full ensemble moment that will once again show off the beautiful sound of your group! This movement is a great opportunity to show off both small group skills and full ensemble sounds.

4. 1812 Overture
The most iconic of all Romantic literature, Tchaikovsky’s tour de force begins with feature moments for your battery, followed by the easily recognized regimental drumming and closing fanfare melody from the 1812 Overture. We even get hints of all the other repertoire we’ve heard throughout the show. This closer is everything your audience will want – cannons sold separately!
